As I work on the book of my life and spend hours digging through my archives, I want to send you a reminder—a memory from 2021. That was the year I went to “demonstrate” every Saturday at Museumplein in Amsterdam. I cherished being among like-minded people during that time. It felt like a rare luxury—to meet people who thought exactly like I did. We called it “having coffee at Museumplein.”
Sometimes the TV news would show a short clip of us, with a voiceover claiming we were extremists. In the Netherlands, they called us Wappies—a derogatory term for conspiracy theorists or crazies.
I filmed and photographed a lot on those Saturdays. Today, I’m sharing a video from 2021 in which I tried to spotlight as many of the incredible women present as I could. I still get a lump in my throat when I think back to those demonstrations.
Since then, Amsterdam hasn’t been the city it once was. I’ve come close to hating it. Our mayor, Femke Halsema, is arguably the biggest WEF bootlicker out there. She used to be the party leader of GroenLinks (a left-wing green party in the Netherlands—well... that probably tells you enough already, doesn’t it?).
And so: I LAUGH BUT I CRY — That’s the text on the sign in the final shot of this video, which I filmed on March 7, 2021, at Museumplein in Amsterdam. We were just “having coffee” together, and yet, time after time, the police came and broke us apart.
I’m still crying on the inside—especially when I remember the beautiful, kind people who stood up to say NO to what was happening.
We have to win this fight.
