If Earth were truly a spinning ball, then many of these rivers would be impossibly flowing uphill. For example, the Mississippi, in its three thousand miles, would have to ascend eleven miles before reaching the Gulf of Mexico. ”

these rivers would fall, not be found.

But rivers don’t climb,
they never fight the tide.
They follow the song
of gravity’s guide.
From mountain to ocean,
so simple, so wise —
rivers don’t climb,
they just realize.

The Mississippi rolls so far,
three thousand miles beneath the stars.
Yet if the ball were truly high,
it would have to reach the sky.
Up eleven miles, through air and dream,
but that’s not how the waters stream.
They whisper softly, “Let it be,
truth flows down to the sea.”
